Smalls
These are a series of small scale drypoint etchings.
Drypoint is a printmaking process whereby the design is scratched into a metal plate using a sharp pointed tool called an etching needle.
A range of different metal plates can be used; aluminum, copper or zinc.
Intaglio ink is then applied to the plate and wiped off according to the desired effect. I like to create a background texture using a printmaking cloth whereby I leave a level of ink to suggest a soft background - others I wipe the plate clean and afterward paint it, using acrylic ink.
Generally the edition runs are less than 15 for this process.
I really like making these little pieces - I hope you enjoy them!
